How it works
1. A gift to unwrap
Choose your membership and receive a gift voucher to give at Christmas. If you've chose a reading journal and bookmark, both arrive with it too.
2. They tell us what they love to read
The recipient completes a short questionnaire about the books they love, their reading tastes and what they'd like to discover.
3. We choose their books
Every book is chosen with the recipient in mind and arrives with a personal note explaining why we selected it personally for them.
4. A new book arrives each month
Beginning in January, a carefully chosen book arrives each month throughout their membership.
About The Book Concierge
Finding the right book can feel harder than it should. Bookshops offer plenty of choise but it’s easy to leave with something that doesn’t quite land. Online, everything is recommended by what’s popular, not what’s personal.
The Book Concierge was set up by Andy, a lifelong reader who has always enjoyed helping friends find books they might not have discovered otherwise.
Each book is chosen with care, based on the reader's tastes and the books they've loved.
Not a list. Not an algorithm. A considered recommendation, just for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What will I receive before Christmas?
If you've chosen a membership with a reading journal, you'll receive the journal, a gift edition bookmark and a voucher to give at Christmas.
For memberships without a journal, we will email the voucher for you to forward or print out.
When will the books arrive?
The first book will arrive in January after the recipient has completed their short reading profile. Then a carefully chosen book will arrive each month throughout the membership.
How do you know which books they'll enjoy?
The recipient completes a short profile about their reading tastes, the books they've loved and what they'd like to discover next. We use this to choose books for them.
Can I buy a membership if I don't know what they like to read?
Absolutely. That's the beauty of the gift. The recipient tells us about their tastes themselves, so you don't need to choose the books or know their reading preferences.
How do you know they haven't already read the books you send?
Before dispatch, we check whether they've already read our selection. If they have, we'll choose another book instead.
Where do you deliver?
Books are currently delivered anywhere within the UK.
How are the books delivered?
Each book is carefully packaged and delivered to their door.
Are all the books in English or can you do other languages?
We currently select books written in or translated into English.

The Book Concierge provides a personalised book recommendation and delivery service. Members (except digital reading list members) receive a book a month for the duration of their membership period. Holiday package customers receive two or four books delivered together.Books are selected based on the information provided in the membership questionnaire and any additional preferences shared by the member.2. Personal Recommendations
Book selections are made in good faith based on the information provided by members. However, reading tastes are subjective and The Book Concierge cannot guarantee that every selection will match a member’s personal preferences.3. Membership and Payment
Membership fees are payable in advance for the full six-month programme unless otherwise stated.4. Delivery
Books are delivered monthly to the address provided by the member. At present the service is available within the United Kingdom.Members are responsible for ensuring delivery details are accurate.5. Refunds and Cancellations
Membership fees are non-refundable once the first book has been dispatched. If there is a problem with delivery or a book arrives damaged, please contact us and we will resolve the issue.6. Gift Membership
Gift membership comes with a voucher delivered either to the gifter or the recipient. The first book will be sent once the recipient has completed their profile. Gift memberships must be activated within 12 months of purchase.7. Changes to the Service
